What You’ll Do

You’ll provide leadership across the firm’s financial, operational, and administrative functions:

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead long-term financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting aligned with firm strategy
  • Deliver clear, actionable financial insights to support leadership decision-making
  • Manage capital planning, liquidity, and financial risk

Accounting, Controls & Compliance

  • Oversee all accounting functions, including GAAP financial reporting, payroll, tax compliance, and internal controls
  • Manage and develop the accounting team and coordinate with external accounting and tax advisors
  • Oversee bonus, commission, 401(k), and profit-sharing plans

Private Equity Fund Oversight

  • Provide financial oversight for Grandview Partners, including capital calls, distributions, limited partner reporting, and fund compliance

Operations, IT & HR Oversight

  • Oversee IT infrastructure and cybersecurity strategy, ensuring secure, scalable systems
  • Maintain strong internal cost controls, metrics, and reporting processes
  • Oversee HR operations, compensation structures, and benefits administration in partnership with leadership

Client, Deal & Revenue Management

  • Lead job costing and profitability analysis by client, team, and engagement
  • Review and approve client engagement letters with a focus on fee structure, billing terms, and risk management

Growth & Strategic Initiatives

  • Serve as a key advisor to the CEO on strategic initiatives, new business lines, and affiliated entities
  • Support internal M&A activity, including financial diligence and structuring
  • Model a team-first leadership style consistent with Copper Run’s culture

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including senior leadership roles (CFO, VP Finance, or Controller)
  • Experience in investment banking, private equity, or professional services strongly preferred
  • Deep expertise in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial controls, and job costing
  • Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills

We are adding an Outreach Specialist at our Columbus headquarters to support our deal teams. Gain direct experience in the buy-side M&A process while utilizing your relentless drive and skill at “getting in the door”. If you are self-motivated with a high degree of presentation, organizational and communication skills, you will flourish in this position.

The Outreach Specialist often has the first opportunity to represent Copper Run to a prospect. This role is critical and sets the stage for positive and effective interactions throughout the deal process.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

  • Primary duties consist of heavy telephone solicitation/sourcing and origination activities for leading private equity firms and strategic acquirers
  • Work with deal teams to develop scripts and outreach approaches that resonate with business owners

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in investment banking, commercial banking, corporate finance, or similar fields; A track record of:

  • Sourcing Deals – including the ability to originate leads, market the firm to the potential client, and manage the engagement letter negotiation process
  • Marketing Deals – utilizing strong communication skills and the eagerness to personally contact potential counterparties for deals
  • Completing Transactions – including the ability to compile marketing materials, structure transactions, and successfully negotiate transactions, especially through the inevitable roadblocks
  • Capable of effectively leading multiple day-to-day client relationships with the CEOs/business owners over long periods of time and multiple client engagements
  • Ability to market transactions to private equity firms, strategic buyers, etc., with the ideal candidate already possessing solid relationships with said parties but not mandatory
  • Self-motivated, personable (both with clients and colleagues), enjoys networking, and has a strong work ethic
  • Ability to have fun
  • FINRA Series 79, 7, and 63 a plus but not mandatory to start.

THE OPPORTUNITY
  • We offer internships throughout the year:
  • Full-time offered by semester (Summer, Fall, Winter/Spring)
    • M-F (9:00 – 6:00); 40 hours
  • Part-time offered during the academic year
    • Days and hours negotiated based on academic schedule and firm needs, with a minimum of 15 hours per week and typically at least three days in the office

After a comprehensive interview process, individuals selected for our internship will gain hands-on experience with buy-side and sell-side engagements, working alongside dedicated investment banking professionals.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Your primary role is to support the deal team members in driving engagements and contribute to assigned special projects
  • As a part of the deal team, you’ll conduct extensive market research to find acquisition targets that match the desired client profile
  • You will assemble marketing materials, draft confidential information memoranda, put together pitchbooks, spread financial statements
  • Of exceptional value is the ability to sit in on calls, including intro calls, client update calls, and cold calls, to learn what to say, when to say it, and how to professionally connect with our clients and prospects
QUALIFICATIONS
  • College-level coursework in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or other related field. Junior and Senior status preferred.
